Description
Photograph of glaciers and mountains on a large body of water, Alaska, 1935. In the foreground, a large, calm body of water can be seen extending across the image from left to right. The water reaches out to the extreme background where a large mountain range is visible. The base of the mountain range is darker than its peaks. The large landmass can be seen extending from the far left to the far right. Several peaks and ridges are also visible. Caption at the top of the image reads: "...trip, an automobile ride over the Richardson Highway, or the 'Trail' as it was called in the early days--those days when the long weary miles between Fairbanks and the Coast were covered by dog teams and sled...".
