Description
A fair-haired young woman wears an outfit in the crimson of Harvard University. She sits on classically-inspired sculpted seat and rests her elbow on a pedestal, the foundation for a classical column. There a classically-patterned stone sidewalk at her feet and the bottom of the plate reads: "Harvard." She is surrounded by climbing wild red and pink roses and she holds the stem of a rose. Behind her are tall trees and the gateway to Harvard University with the campus in the distance. She wears a crimson red outfit that matches the roses. Her dress has some masculine elements. The bodice has soft pleats and a high stiff red collar. She wears a black and red scarf tied to look like a man's tie. The long sleeves of the bodice have french cuffs with black buttons. The long red skirt has two layers and has a black belt at the waist. The upper skirt ends about at her knees, and each hem has a band of three tucks or red braid. There is a hint of white petticoat showing underneath the hem of the dress. To complete the outfit she wears tan gloves, a red hat with a medium brim turned up at the sides trimmed with red feather plumes, and black shoes with matching red bows. Confidence is demonstrated by her direct look at the viewer.
