Newhall, named after businessman Henry Newhall, is the southernmost and oldest district of Santa Clarita. Prior to the 1987 consolidation into the city of Santa Clarita, it was an unincorporated town. Photograph caption dated November 27, 1958 reads, "The cracker-jack Hart High School Indians are pictured above ready for action tomorrow night against Arroyo Grande in first round game of CIF 'AA' football playoffs. Hart finished season with an undefeated record under Coach Hal Mitchell and is favored to continue hot pace in a game at Newhall. Probable starting lineup for Hart is shown.
