Description
Photograph of crowd gathering around a train at a station, ca.1930-1940. At center, a large darkly-colored train is visible. The body of the train is shown at a slight angle, extending from the horizon at left to the center. The train is composed of several compartments, and several windows can be seen lining each compartment. To the immediate left and right of the plane, tall utility poles can be seen running parallel to the train extending into the horizon. In the background to the left, the letter "S" is seen painted onto the side of a pole. In the immediate foreground at center, a large "X" is visible on the side of another pole. Standing alongside these poles near the train, crowds of men, women, and children are seen. In the extreme background, a tall clock tower and several surrounding buildings can be seen.
