Description
Restored frontispiece (Vāhalkada) at one of the cardinal points. Altar at lower level for offerings. It is likely that the vahalkada would have served as the base for a tri-partite brick structure above it. See Kantaka Chetiya (Mihintale near Anuradhapura) for the best preserved vāhalkada. A small Buddha statue has been placed in a niche of a sculptured miniature temple above it. Two identical but smaller miniature temples flank its base.
