Frank Lloyd Wright emphasized his theory of organic architecture in his design of the Marin Civic Center. The related groupings of long, horizontal buildings which constitute the Civic Center and gracefully link several rolling hills, stand as testament to Wright's philosophy. The integration of artificial ponds with realistic man-made lakes is also characteristic of Wright's concept of organic architecture. The Administrative Building houses the County's administrative, financial and physical development departments, as well as the Marin County Free Library and the Anne T. Kent California Room. The Marin County Civic Center is a national and state designated historic landmark. It is located in San Rafael, California.
