Description
RTD bus driver Floyd Cornelius Lovington (pictured) is treated by paramedics for injuries he sustained when the RTD bus he was driving was struck by a slow-moving Southern Pacific train at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Ardmore Avenue in South Gate. Preliminary indications were that Covington apparently misjudged the distance between his bus and the railroad track and stopped too close to the crossing, which has no barrier at the intersection. Photograph dated August 6, 1986.
