Description
The photo caption published in the Sacramento Bee on September 22, 1964 states: "An observation plane scouts the timber fire near Auburn, Placer County, to guide chemical bombers to the blazing forest. High, warm wind up to 60 miles an hour pushed the fire rapidly toward Auburn yesterday. The picture was taken from Bowman, Placer County, looking south to where the fire burned between the North and Middle Forks of the American River."
