Photo date stamped July 9, 1975. Photograph caption for similar photo in an accompanying article reads, "Los Angeles policeman guards some of the 5,000 weapons which were ground into scrap in Carson, as required by state law. The arms were contraband or unclaimed weapons which police had accumulated in the past year."
