Description
The first presentation of "The Iron Furnace," a sacred opera written by Aimee Semple McPherson. This scene from the opera shows Israelites worshipping the golden calf while Moses was absent on the mount obtaining the Ten Commandments. The story of the opera deals with the turmoil and misery of the Israelites while in Egypt and during their wanderings in the desert. The opera was presented by Angelus Temple musical organizations. The opening performance was on August 26, 1931.
