Description: "Men's Ward." Exterior view of men's ward at Blantyre, Nyasaland [Malawi]. The male ward had an operating theatre attached and was built in 1896 at a site separate from other mission buildings. Later two additional wards were built for men, including an isolation ward to contain the spread of epidemics such as typhoid.
