Description
Connie and Sonya begin talking about how Sonya’s book is an adult book, rather than the young adult work that she is known for, before moving into the characters in the book and their issues. Connie has Sonya read from the book’s verse, and Sonya describes how her own background influenced some of the developments in the work’s plot. Sonya then goes on to discuss her writing style and approach to her work, which consists of novels in verse. Connie has Sonya read from the book once more before revisiting the characters and their experiences in the book. Sonya then returns to reading from the book to illustrate character developments before moving into a discussion of symbolism in her work. Connie closes the interview requesting an autograph for her copy of the book.
