Dr. G. Venkataswamy, chairman of the Aravind Eye Hospital, writes Peter Drucker saying that he received Drucker's letter dated 19 April 1998 and the book "Adventures of a Bystander." He says that there is a need for efficient hospital managers in developing countries, and that in India alone, nearly 10 million people are blind due to cataracts, which can be cured by a simple operation in any part of the globe. Venkataswamy goes on to say that the Lions Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology (LAICO) was established, and offers postgraduate diploma courses in hospital and health management.
