Daily press reviews primarily regarding Japanese Americans compiled by War Relocation Authority from July 2 to July 6, 1942. Topics include: good military service by Hawaiian Japanese Americans, farm labor shortage and employing Japanese Americans to fill shortages, work on construction and preparation of Heart Mountain Relocation Center, Japanese couple arrested for possession of firearms, letter to the editor protesting racism and hate speech, other letters calling for all Japanese to be deported, incarcerees celebrating 4th of July, Japanese fishermen winning $15,000 lawsuit. The War Relocation Authority (WRA), together with the Wartime Civil Control Administration (WCCA), the Civil Affairs Division (CAD) and the Office of the Commanding General (OFG) of the Western Defense Command (WDC) operated together to segregate and house some 110,000 men women and children from 1942 to 1945. The collection contains documents and photographs relating to the establishment and administrative workings of the (WDC), the (WRA) and the (WCCA) for the year 1942.
