The Lokrantz Special Education Center was designed by architect Sidney Eisenshtat and opened in 1962. Named after Sven Lokrantz, an orthopedic surgeon, the school is designed in a circular shape with classrooms extending out from a central area used for physical and occupational therapy. The school is located at 19451 Wyandotte Street in Reseda.
Photograph caption dated January 22, 1962 partially reads, "Specially trained therapists and teachers help physicially [sic] handicapped youngsters learn and adjust at the 4-month-old Sven Lokrantz School in Reseda...Mrs. Rhoda Freeman...instructs 5th and 6th grade class in reading."; See images #00127340 through #00127342 for all photos in this series.
