Description
Anais Nin begins the lecture by relating how she became a feminist at age nine, when she started questioning directives that didn't make sense because they were a reflection of a patriarchal society. She stated that she learned from men - professors, psychologists, and doctors - and adapted the lessons learned for her own use. She discussed the contents of her diary, including an all-night discussion with Norman Mailer and Larry Durrell in the 1930's where she questioned the validity of their writings. Nin talked about imagery and myths of women in literature.
