Description
Bust-length portrait. 1990-1601. Also have negative: no. 19,047 (5x4 in.) Albert Bennett was born in Schoharie County, New York in 1825. Came to California via Panama in 1849 (ships Thetus and Galveston, then ship Alexander von Humboldt up to San Francisco). Worked as architect in Sacramento and San Francisco. Was State Architect under Governors Haight and Irwin, working on State Capitol, Governor's Mansion, parts of San Quentin prison. Died in 1890.
