Description
A military parade featuring cavalry units escorting horse-drawn caissons rolls down K Street between Seventh and Tenth in this 1927 photograph. A large crowd of onlookers line the street and business signs clearly identify the Clunie Hotel (805 K Street), Florsheim's Shoes (809 K Street), Hale Brothers Department Store (825 K Street), Purnell Stationery Company (915 K Street), Sequoia Theatre (909 K Street), and Chinn-Beretta Optical Company (901 K Street). Rows of automobiles are parked along the street. some of which have parade watchers looking out. The Sequoia Theatre played films released by Paramount Studios; ""Drums of the Desert"" opened September of 1927 and would have made its way to Sacramento screens a month or two later.
