A unique mixture in Sri Lanka of Hindu and Buddhist architectural elements, including Mahayana and Tantric influences. Dismantled and reassembled beginning 1980 to allow the Mahaweli river hydro-power project. The Hindu aspects are in South Indian Pallava style. The entrance at left is approached by a few steps flanked by balustrades.
