Description: A race car going down Wilshire Boulevard near 14th Street, in Santa Monica, during the Santa Monica road race season. Spectators line the road, and houses can be seen in the background.
Title devised by cataloger based on writing on back: "14th & Wilshire looking towards Vetani home"--text, handwritten in ink on verso. "1917" -- text, handwritten on front. The Santa Monica Road Races were held from 1909 until 1919. The course was 8.4 miles, and run on city streets Ocean Avenue, Wilshire Blvd. and San Vicente Blvd. (Source: Santa Monica Public Library Image Archives.)
