Description
Thomas Rees was born on March 26, 1925. He served in the California State Assembly and Senate. Rees introduced the bill in the state legislature which created the Southern California Rapid Transit District. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1965. Rees died in 2003.
Photograph caption dated August 15, 1963 reads "Doubts if MTA can do the job." The article partially reads "Believing that the MTA's lack of power is its main problem, Rees feels a new agency should be created to spearhead a rapid transit program." Thomas Rees is a California state senator.
