Title supplied by cataloger. In the nineteenth century the Patterson Ranch was a prosperous working ranch, complete with a residential mansion and Victorian-style gardens. The 6,000-acre ranch, owned by John D. Patterson, was a major producer of sugar beets in the county and among the most profitable in the entire state. Today, the site of the Patterson Ranch has become the 205-acre Ardenwood Historic Farm, which is a working farm and museum exhibiting agricultural practices from the 1870s through the present. Visitors can witness farm activities and farm chore demonstrations of the days of yore. View of numerous men, and dozens of horses as they get ready to start working at the Patterson Ranch located in Ventura County. It appears there are at least two separate barns (visible on the left), as well as a stable (half hidden on the right), an unidentified smaller structure (rear left), and possibly a home (middle rear). Teams of horses are being prepared for their daily grind.
