The long, two-story building of the Sierra Madre Villa hotel in San Gabriel (now Sierra Madre, California), owned by William F. Cogswell, with many windows, sits on a slight hill in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. A group of smaller buildings sit to the right. A forked, dirt road lined with shrub plants and young trees leads up to buildings. Title derived from Watkins New Series stereo #4390. Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880.
