Description
Orange County surfers remember sneaking past U.S. Marine patrols to surf, “some the best waves in the world” at Trestles Beach in the 1960s. Located on the border between Orange and San Diego Counties with access through San Clemente, Trestles was part of Camp Pendleton, owned by the U.S. Marine Corps since 1942. In 1971, President Richard Nixon leased the land to the State of California, opening up beach access to the public. Montage featuring Jeff Divine, T.K. Brimer, Allan Seymour, Sheri Crummer, Pat Sparkul, Dino Andino, Steve Pezman, Pierre Van Swae, Tom Sutherland, and Jeff Quam. Recorded Sep. 2019 – Mar. 2020; Orange County, CA
