Photograph caption dated November 24, 1950 reads "Featured in a sheltered corner of the Ralph Downs garden, 11444 Osborne Ave., Lake View Terrace, is a small, attractive pool. Selected as garden of the month winner by the Terrace Garden Club, the Downs combine patio, pool and garden in a sheltered spot which enables them to enjoy the out-of-doors all year 'round. Mrs. Downs (seated), points out lavender water lily blooming out of season, to Mrs. Herbert Hoffman, vice president of the club. Receiving honorable mention was the garden of the Don Longs, 11463 Longford Ave."
