Folder of documents removed from a time capsule at the First Methodist Church of San Jose, 205 East Santa Clara Street, containing: (1) Cover letter from Joyce Wesley Farr about the contents and purpose of the time capsule (attached as PDF) (1) "Fourth Quarterly Conference Reports", June 5, 1951 (3) group photographs of dignitaries and church officials (in very poor condition), identified on reverse. Includes Dr. C. B. Sylvester, former minister of First Methodist Church; Dr. Joyce Wesley Farr, Minister at First Methodist Church; (1) Pamphlet: First Methodist Church, San Jose, California : A Century of Service, 1847-1947" (1) Pamphlet membership directory of the church's Woman's Society of Christian Service (1) Church bulletin, June 14, 1951 The cover letter begins: "In this little container we have placed items of interest to us in the year of our Lord 1951. Here you will gather from picture and story some indication of how the 'on-going Church' was faring in the year 1951. Uppermost in our minds at this hour are the problems of resolving the international tension between the United States and Russia. A foolish war has been going on for a year in Korea under the sponsoship of the United Nationa called a 'police-action.' ..."
