Image of the Army and Navy Monument (also known as the Soldiers and Sailors Monument) in Boston, Massachusetts, honoring those who served in the Union army and navy during the American Civil War; large columnar monument topped with and surrounded by sculpted figures of people; setting is park-like with trees; image framed by an architectural arch decorated with military medals and American flags.
"Copyrighted 1877. C. Frank King Lith 32 Winter St. Boston."--text, bottom center margin. "Martin Milmore Sculptor."--text, bottom step of monument. "Joseph Milmore, Sup'g Arch't."--text, bottom right margin. "Dedicated To the Men of Boston who died for their country on land and sea in the war which kept the Union whole destroyed slavery and maintained the Constitution the grateful City has built this Monument that their example may speak to coming generations."--text, bottom center margin.
