Description
View of a memorial plaque posted above the doorway of an unidentified building in Old Sacramento. Inscription reads, "Newton Booth Store. Erected 1853. Business started 1850. Headquarters for miners from gold diggings. Newton Booth elected Governor of California 1871 and U. S. Senator 1873. Upstairs he maintained official reception quarters and a magnificent ball room with capacity for 1000 dancers. Here state fucntions were held during his term."
