Description
Thought for the day by Charles Handy on British men overworking, and how more quality time is needed in British culture to enjoy the fruits of one's labors. Handy begins the document discussing how the British are workaholics and work more hours on average than the rest of the European nations, and cautions that this British orientation toward work may not be the best practice. He proceeds to note how, in the story of Genesis, God rested on the seventh day, examined His work, and saw that it was good, deducing that both rest and reflection are important for maintaining perspective in the midst of all the busyness. Handy concludes that sabbaticals are God's Audit, and that they are necessary in order to avoid unnecessary overwork.
