Photograph article dated August 7, 1963 partially reads, "Because violence distresses him to the point where his ulcers buck and gambol, Los Angeles Angel manager Bill Rigney makes a point of checking the shower room each evening before he leaves Chávez Ravine... As everyone is well aware, [Lee] Thomas takes the game of baseball seriously; so seriously that water coolers tend to get kicked out of shape and no bat rack in the American League is safe from his wrath." Photograph caption reads, "Minnesota Twin first baseman Mincher soars after liner - Robs Angel slugger Thomas of a sure base hit in 4th inning at Ravine."
