Description
Photo--black and white: Bender Brothers Mill at Del Mar, 1890. The mill was started about 1885 and later purchased by Frank Glynn and Hans Petersen. Walter Brain worked a short time for both owners. He chose to work in the woods. When the Bender Brothers went broke they still owed Walter Brain $40.00, which was a month's wages. He was "donkey puncher" (steam logging donkey). The name of these steam donkeys were Dolbeer and Carson of Humbolt Co. Eureka, CA.
