Description: The Union Hotel dominates this circa 1862 view of the west side of Second Street, between J and K Streets. Several people stand in front of the hotel while some stand on the balcony overlooking the street. Notes on the picture identify this building as the Wells Fargo Express Office. A horse-drawn wagon is on the left and a watering trough is located in front of the Post Office.
