Photograph caption dated December 16, 1947 reads, "Testifying before Civil Aeronautics Board today in probe of emergency landing of DC-6 airliner at Gallup, N. M., Pilot Capt. Evan W. Chatfield, center, admits he left regular flight line, but preferred that position because plane was afire. With him are Stewardesses Elizabeth Apitz (left) and Marilyn Humphrey who were aboard plane when it made safe landing at Gallup. Board also probes Utah crash."
