Description
Image of two men in prisoner uniforms, with one carrying a child as he scales down a pole on the side of a house's porch while the other man stands on the ground and reaches up, with a date stamp for performances beginning on January 19, [1885], at the Boston Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts; the poster advertises the melodrama "Shadows of a Great City" by L. R. Shewell.
Probable date based on general show history and month and day of item text; the play was first performed in 1884. "Forbes Co. Boston & N.Y."--text, bottom right. "Boston Theatre, One Week / Commencing / Monday, Jan. 19 / Matinee / Saturday."--text, bottom margin centered.
