Photograph article dated September 19, 1963 partially reads, "The average man is going down to the sea in sailboats these days at prices he can afford. We made several weekend tours this summer along the shores of our megalopolis (Santa Barbara to the Mexican border) and found that renting sailboats is fast becoming a popular water sport. It is ranked in rate of popularity, we believe, with surfing and skin diving. And for the weekend casual sailor, the price is right - $2 to $4 an hour for a 14 to 20-foot sloop or dory. Renting a boat means someone else does the painting, mends the sails and pays the depreciation. The sailor just has fun." Sailors secure their boats at the marina outside the Coronado Boat House.; See images #00120309 through #00120311 for all photos in this series.
