Photograph of A.C. Brode standing with a leaping tuna he caught off Santa Catalina Island, August 19, 1909. The large fish is hung by its mouth from a wooden support at center. Brode is at right and is wearing a dark suit while looking to the right. At left is a dockhand who is also looking to the right. The men and the fish are on a long wooden pier. The buildings of Avalon can be seen in the background. Written on the bottom of the image is the following: "Wt 126 lbs. Time 2 hrs. 5 min. 24 Stran Line. First Leaping Tuna of the season in 5 years. Caught by A. C. Brode of Los Angeles, Cal. Catalina Isl. Aug. 19th, 1909".
