Photograph shows a geodetic monument on top of Mt. Shasta. Erected October 1875 to establish a constant signal to connect the long lines of the main triangulation of the Coast and Geodetic Survey [see: the Siskiyou Pioneer, volume 2, no. 2, pg. 3].
