Description
Photograph of a view of Western Avenue looking north from Eighth Street, ca.1924. Cars move back and forth along the paved road in the center of the image: In the left foreground, an ice truck can be seen, while farther back the mailman can be seen crossing the street. On the corner to the left, the three-story brick Serling Parr Building houses commercial interests. On the right side of the road, a row of nearly-identical two-story houses can be seen, canopies extending from their windows. Utility poles line both sides of the street, some of which are posted with a banner that reads "Hugh J. Crawford". Mountains are visible in the distance. Other legible signs from left to right include: "Rent", "Drugs", "Santa Fe Cigars", "Wilshire Fireproof Sh[...]", and "A Beautiful Roof [...]".
