In the foreground is a spray of palm leaves; behind these and to the left is a man in a broad-brimmed hat who holds a rolled up flag pole; a group of men descend diagonally down to the right with men approaching this path behind them; in the background of the photo appears to be a tent-like structure with a peak on the left; the descending men are dressed formally in top hats and the second in line from the flagpole is President Roosevelt
Included among men: Charles W. Coe, David Starr Jordan, J. A. Hayes, Benj. Ide Wheeler, and Major O. McGure(?)
