The first class of Malagasy students studying French, 1894-1896. Sitting in front to the left: Ramalanjona (Ramala), Samoela, Rajaobelona. Sitting in the middle from the left: David O.Jakobsen 1844-1923, Lisebeth Godal 1870-1931, M.Escande, Christian Borchgrevink 1841-1919. M.Escande and Minault, French missionaries, were killed on their way to Vakinankaratra in May 1897.
