Thirty-year-old Monterey Pines. The original planting was in lines twenty feet apart and six feet in the rows. Other species were interplanted but these were rapidly suppressed, this resulting in an excessive amount of branches on the pines. One of these trees at thirty years of age was 28" diameter at breast height, height 130 ft., and had a volume of 160.7 cubic feet, exclusive of bark and branch wood. This tree grew at an elevation of 639 ft. near a stream
