Description
In 1949, Holy Family Services was founded by Delores Hope, wife of comedian Bob Hope. Originally named Holy Family Adoption Service, the agency was established to help find permanent adoptive homes for orphaned and at risk youth, and for infant children whose mothers could no longer care for them.
Photograph caption dated March 14, 1959 reads "Motion picture and television cowpoke 'meanies' Bob Gunderson and Fred Kohler, left to right, standing, and Glenn Strange, resting on tree limb, all three of whom tried to 'kill' actor Bob Hope (poster picture) in his latest film, 'Alias Jesse James,' are tagged by Hope's pretty wife for tickets to the charity premiere of film next Tuesday night at Fox Westwood Village Theater. Funds go to Holy Family Adoption Service, founded by Mrs. Hope 10 years ago. To date, 1,074 children have been placed by agency."
