Description
227 N Alta Vista built for Sarah J. Abbott in 1887. "Although Mr. Rogers has been a resident of Monrovia but a year and a half, he has become identified with its best interests. Coming here from Grundy county, Iowa, in December, 1895, he purchased a comfortable home with one acre of land, on J.I.C. avenue, and shortly afterward secured the adjoining acre. The property is set to oranges and lemons, and so satisfied is he with the future outlook that he contemplates the purchase of additional land. Upon the recent resignation of Mr. Slosson from the board of trustees, Mr. Rogers was unamimously selected to fill the vacancy. He is thoroughly imbued with the idea that a large and growing orange section like this should have an ample supply of water, and will give his best efforts toward that end." Monrovia Messenger Souvenir Edition 1897.
