Description
Members of Le Cercle Francais, the French Club during the 1923-1924 school year. This photograph can also be found on page 122 of the 1925 Pomona College yearbook, "Metate" with this description of the club: "A wee bit of France is transplanted into Pomona College through the French Circle, which affords its members, advanced students in French, an opportunity to speak and hear spoken that language in a more informal and entertaining environment than in the class room. One of the many enjoyable programs of the year was the study of two French operas, 'Manon' and 'Faust.' The stories of the operas were given in French by two of the members, and selections from the opera were heard." The "Metate" also identifies the students pictured here as: "Halloway, Waterman, Karns, Jacobs, Ames, Chevalier, Porter, Baublits, Bissiri, Walker, Miller, Poeton, Bauld, Force, bowen, Bodger, Doyle, Blaisdell, Bell, Horton, Handley, Williams".
