"Mamre. Grabstein Bruder Kunicks." ("Mamre. Brother Kunick's gravestone."). In the center of the picture stands a gravestone. It is surrrounded by grass. Parts of trees to the left and right in the background. There is an inscription of the gravestone: " Friedrich Wilhelm Kunick geb. in Modlau in Silesia in(?) March(?) 1839 [...] to(?) Mamre [...] February 1901 March(?) [...]" ("Friedrich Wilhelm Kunick b[orn] in Modlau in Silesia in(?) March 1839 [...] to(?) Mamre [...] February 1901 March(?) [...]"). Written on the card board: "Br. Baudert 1930." ("Br[other] Baudert 1930."). Wilhelm Kunick (born 1839 in Modlau, died 1901 in Mamre) who was a missionary in Mamre from 1874 to 1883 and from 1897 to 1901. -- The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
