Description
Photograph of a commemoration mass in Tahiti Archipelago, Oceania. In 1836 Fathers Caret and Laval, of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts of Jeasus and Mary landed in the Tahiti Archipelago, Oceania, and founded the mission which became a Vicariate Apostolic. The centenary of the foundation was solemnly commemorated with a Solemn Pontifical Mass of Thanksgiving in the open air. More than 5,000 were present at the ceremony, representing all sections of the Vicariate.
