Description
Photograph of children performing dances at the annual International Folk Dancing Festival, ca.1930. Twelve children bow towards one another in the center while wearing lightly colored knee length dresses with checkered aprons and bonnets. The children stand in the center of a trimmed field while spectators sit on benches in the foreground with the backs of their heads visible. Large groups of children, who seem to be participants in the dance, sit on the grass in the background wearing various costumes. A large structure that looks like the walls of a coliseum are visible in the left background. Photoprint reads "Outdoor festivals, with hundreds of children appearing as costumed participants, are held regularly throughout the year at Los Angeles municipal playgrounds and recreation centers. Here is shown a scene from the Annual International Folk Dancing Festival, in which children present typical peasant dances of thrity different nations."
