Scope/Content: Transcribed from caption: Congenial group gathers following unveiling of murals on Negro in California HIstory in the lobby of Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Company's new Home Office building. Murals were painted by artists Hale Woodruff and Charles Alston and fitted in over lower walls of Roman Travertine against which the group is standing. Left to right: Dr. Julia Metcalf, Curator of Private Thomas More Library; President Norman O. Houston, Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Company; Mrs. Nora Holt, Music Critic, Amsterdam News, New York, in Los Angels for the National Musicians Association Meeting; Titus Alexander, Member of California Historical Society who aided in the research upon which the murals are based; Mrs. Aimee Torriani, Motion Picture Producer; Mrs. Sharon Patterson, Philanthropist and Social Worker.
