Photograph caption dated May 18, 1965 reads "Attending first annual Patriotic Ball, sponsored by the Women's Division of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Los Angeles County Chapter, are Valley guests Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Blakiston Jr., left. Joining them are Lt. Comdr. (USN Ret.) Pharris, former Medal Honor winner, and his wife. The event, attended by more than 700, was held in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel."
