Photograph was edited for publication purposes. David “Davey” S. Moore was born on November 1, 1933 Springfield, Ohio. He was an American featherweight world champion boxer and a member of the 1952 United States boxing team. Moore fought professionally 1953–63. He died on March 25, 1963 as a result of injuries sustained in a boxing match with Ultiminio Ramos Zaqueira, better known as Sugar Ramos. First photograph caption dated August 11, 1959 reads "Davey Moore, world featherweight champion, works on heavy bag while training for his 15-round title defense against Hogan Bassey Aug. 19 at the Olympic Auditorium." Second photograph caption dated March 16, 1963 reads "Davey Moore."
